Select the WhatsApp photos whose dates are wrong. They are read locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
WhatsApp strips the shooting date when sending photos. This free tool reads the real date from each filename and writes it back into the photo — in bulk, right in your browser.
Select JPEG photos (e.g. IMG-20240115-WA0001.jpg). We detect each photo's real date, then rewrite it with one click.
Three steps. No software to install, no account needed.

Each filename (like IMG-20240115-WA0001.jpg) still carries the shooting date. We compare it with the current EXIF data and show you exactly what will change.
One click rewrites the date into every photo's EXIF data. Download them individually or all at once as a ZIP — original filenames kept.
Everything you might want to know before fixing.
WhatsApp compresses photos when sending them, which strips the EXIF metadata — including the shooting date. Restoring from a backup can also reset dates. The filename (e.g. IMG-20240115-WA0001.jpg) usually still contains the real date, which is what this tool recovers.
JPEG (.jpg / .jpeg) only — that is the only common format where date metadata can be rewritten reliably in a browser. PNG and TIFF files will be listed but skipped, and HEIC photos (iPhone default) need to be converted to JPEG first.
No. All processing — reading, date detection and EXIF rewriting — happens locally in your browser with JavaScript. Your photos never leave your device, which is also why the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Priority order: (1) the date in the WhatsApp filename, (2) the existing EXIF date if there is no filename date, (3) the file's modification date. WhatsApp filenames carry a date but no time, so the time is set to 12:00 noon. Photos whose EXIF date already matches are automatically skipped.
Up to 50 photos per batch are completely free, with no account required. Larger batches need the unlimited version — a small one-time payment that keeps this tool running and ad-free.
